I started school hating to read until my school required us to read 500 pages a day from fourth grade until sixth grade. So I made myself love it. In 2010 I began my own writing career, and after wasting too much money on not so great betas a friend and I began our own service.
The worst part of my writing process was all the people who said nice things to spare my feelings. It hurt to hear the truth, but my writing flourished. It’s correct that the truth will set you free.
So many betas read a book based on what they enjoy. The problem is that they may misunderstand the point or focus of your book, or they may have no knowledge of the background needed to read your story for what it is. Allison and I take the time to get to know what you, the author, are trying to say before making suggestions. If we don't know something then we research it before attempting to tell you what your book should be.
Education & Training:
I have a B.A. in psychology with a minor in Women's Studies and a professional certificate in photography with a background in visual storytelling. I'm currently studying visual design, photography as an art, and marketing at Augusta University.
Romance, Historical Romance, Regency Romance, Psychological romance, Historical fiction, Women's Fiction, YA, Mystery, Suspense, Erotica, Contemporary Fiction, Christian Fiction, Horror, New Adult, Mysteries/Thrillers, and Literary fiction.
I make notes from the perspective of the writer. I've written six books and am currently working on my seventh. My notes are about overall structure instead of the fine details. I pinpoint whether a book's premise was written with clarity, whether the ending does justice to the foundation of the book, whether the foundation is strong enough to support the plot etc.
Do not expect a gushing review from me! That's not going to help you as a writer. My editors were hard on me, so I extend that service to the client. I get the process of writing a book, and I'll support you in any way that I can.
